Abstract: Assessment of psychiatric symptoms relies primarily on self-report, which is subjective and typically collected infrequently. Smartphone-based digital phenotyping can provide low-burden, high-throughput real-world data about social, behavioral, and cognitive markers. I will discuss some opportunities and challenges in this line of research. Among others, I will discuss the importance of working with raw data and the challenges posed by missing data. I will also highlight the importance of reproducibility and will discuss the importance of methods for future work.
