Abstract: Intensive neurorehabilitation interventions provide strong evidence of efficacy in treating both pediatric and adult neuromotor impairment secondary to stroke and other CNS events. The presentation will focus on 1) the evidence supporting treatment-induced structural and functional neuroplasticity and 2) how integrating findings across rigorous clinical trials and strategic analyses of large clinical databases can yield breakthroughs in the emerging specialty fields of precision neuroscience and precision rehabilitation. The potential value of biomarkers and more refined measurement of neuromotor behavior will be illustrated by findings from pediatric studies demonstrating differential benefits of high intensity treatments for patient subgroups.
